It's a software platform to enable economically compelling projects in local communities. Think of it as wikipedia for projects.

First it provides a set of economic and environmental metrics to help developers and communities determine what types of projects they should be pursuing and where.

Second it provides a suite of online tools to manage, finance and operate projects in a way that has not yet been applied to either the energy or project finance industries.

Projects are broadly limited to the energy industry and in many ways form an actual pipeline of projects outlined in McKinsey and Bloomberg's landmark studies on emissions reductions and how to meet them.

Individuals, municipalities, utilities, communities, private equity firms. Anyone. Internationally. Here are some of the Use Cases the software was designed to support.

Not at all. The whole idea is to create an objective platform for the comparison of traditional and renewable energy projects. The best ones being those with superior economics.

As projects develop in maturity, additional features of the platform become available. Initially only the Document and Discussion components are enabled, but as projects progress through their development life-cycle additional features like Modelling, Financing and Operation become available. You can contribute to existing projects by adding or editing content, analysis or discussion. Or if there's a project type or technology you would like to see evaluated and possibly implemented, you can create a new project. Should your project become available for financing and construction - you can contribute in these ways as well.

We're a group of graduate students from Columbia University and it grew out of our coursework, theses and collaboration in the areas of energy, finance and public policy.
